The food is really good; prices are reasonable. The he chicken fried steak is great. The peanut butter pie is amazing as well. Every time we've been they've neither have been busy, but there wasn't a wait time. The hostess could definitely be more friendly; I kinda felt like an inconvenience, yet waitstaff had been good/great. Overall, highly recommended.

Stop in on Christmas Eve to pickup a Coconut Cream pie and have lunch. Ordered the Jay cheeseburger w/ fries & wife hadchicken tenders salad. Delicious food and great service. Highly recommend as we come here a few times a year coming and going to the beach.

Waitress was aaaamazing. We had over 25 people and she did an exceptional job. My steak was great.

Absolutely delicious! I'm in Houston and my husband brought me a to-go plate after a business meeting. Even after traveling and microwaving later my Salisbury steak, potatoes, green beans, gravy & roll were so fresh tasting! This is the one and only time I have Salisbury steak that was smoke grilled! Fabulous! Homemade mashed, flavorful beans, soft roll... and one of the most scrumptious peanut butter pies with chocolate cookie crust ever! Wish I lived closer!

Stoped in for lunch again. As always food is delicious. I had the blue plate speacial with broccoli soup. Everything was fresh and yummy. Would recommend this spot if you are hungry and want good food.

I love the feel and atmosphere of this restaurant. It gives a traditional country feel to it and thats what hooks you. The food makes this place much more of a reason to go. The meals are home cooked and tailored by days. My husband and I got the grilled chicken salads with ranch and hot bacon dressing. It was simply amazing! The peach cobbler was great. On the way out we got another salad, the mesquite grilled salmon, and peanut butter pie which was to die for. Everything was great and I 10/10 recommend coming here!

Jay's cafe is one of the best hometown meals I've had in a long time. I went to the original location first and was so pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. The jalapeño poppers are pretty good! Was happy when the Lake Jackson location opened and have been there a few times! Waitresses are always very nice and helpful. Great choices to pick from are the chicken fried steak or the ribeye.

I ventured 30 miles from the Uptown Galleria area to The Jay Cafe in Needville TX because a photo of their Mesquite Grilled Ribeye special with 2 sides for $23.99 came across my Instagram feed. I was not disappointed! I started off with the Jay Cafe Jalapeno Poppers which were HUGE! They are handmade daily, contains bacon (YUM!) and served with a small bowl of ranch dressing. They were hot & delicious. Then I ordered the Mesquite Grilled Ribeye, well done, with Mashed Potatoes and Fried Okra. The mashed potatoes were a bit stiff, but were hot & delicious and the fried okra didn't have much taste to it, but the Mesquite Grilled Ribeye was bursting with flavor! Served on a bed of mushrooms & onions, the ribeye was juicy and hot and was not overrun with fat edges. It was perfect. I topped the meal off with a peach cobbler & some ice cream. It was a perfect meal for this rainy, cold night. Thanks, Jay Cafe! I would DEFINITELY recommend!
